Albert is an award holder of the Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) scholarship, undertaking his PhD studies in the Foo lab since 2014. Prior to arriving in Singapore, Albert received his Masters degree in biomedical science at the University of Bern, Switzerland.

Albert has always had strong interest in non-coding RNAs, believing that the discovery and understanding of new non-coding RNA will be of paramount importance in the field of disease diagnostics and therapeutics. In the lab, he is currently exploring the genetic and epigenetic role of a novel long non coding RNA in cardiomyocyte differentiation and maturation.

Albert is strongly driven by innovation and new discoveries. His aim is to develop a career where he creates new approaches and technologies, making them useful for translational research and health care.

When is not busy in the lab, Albert indulges avidly in water sports, one of them being outrigger canoeing. Since Nov 2014, Albert has been a member of the Singapore Paddle Club. He has participated in local and international races.  In the 2017 and 2018 DBS Dragon Boat Regattas, the club won and took home a prize of $35,000. Other unforgettable races are the 2017 Sydney Harbour Challenge, 2017 Tahiti World Championship and 2018 Moloka’i Hoe in Hawaii.
